Higher Education and Health Care Open Forum featuring 119th Assembly District candidates

WHO: Assembly candidates vying to succeed Joan Christensen

WHAT: Participate in open public forum on higher education and health care issues

WHERE: Upstate Medical University, Weiskotten Hall 9th floor auditorium, 766 Irving Ave., Syracuse

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2 – 3:30 pm

United University Professions (UUP) and Upstate Medical University (UMU) are jointly hosting an open public forum on higher education and health care issues featuring the four candidates vying for the 119th Assembly District seat: John Sharon (R), Sam Roberts (D), Chris Fadden-Fitch (C) and Michael Donnelly (G). The forum will be moderated by Dr. David Duggan, UMU Medical Director – Chief Quality Officer.

A ceremony honoring Assemblywoman Joan Christensen will be held immediately before the forum, with UMU President Dr. David Smith and UUP President Dr. Phillip Smith presiding.

UUP is the nation's largest higher education union, with more than 42,000 academic and professional faculty and retirees. UUP members work at 29 New York state-operated campuses, including SUNY’s public teaching hospitals and health science centers in Brooklyn, Long Island and Syracuse. It is an affiliate of NYSUT, the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association, and the AFL-CIO.
