Unionized workers to protest proposed closure of University Hospital at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kingsboro Psychiatric Center

On Wednesday, January 11 from 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., hundreds of union members from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kingsboro Psychiatric Center will protest outside the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn, the site of a meeting of a group chaired by Stephen Berger, a Wall Street investor who backs a plan calling for the closure of the two facilities. Berger is scheduled to attend the meeting to promote the plan.

The rally begins at 7:00 a.m. at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, 333 Adams Street in Brooklyn.

Interviews can be arranged with: Rowena Blackman-Stroud, UUP statewide treasurer and president of the UUP chapter at SUNY Downstate; Pat Baker, PEF Vice President; and Lester Crockett, CSEA Metropolitan Region President.
