Hundreds of students, faculty and staff from CUNY and SUNY will be in Albany for a statewide Higher Education Action Day. Together they will urge the Legislature to reinvest in public higher education, create a public higher education endowment, and reform the Tuition Assistance Program.

SUNY and CUNY are suffering from nearly $2 billion in prior cuts, which have led to tuition hikes and diminished student services. Students and faculty leaders will gather for news conference in between lobby meetings.

UUP is the nation's largest higher education union, with more than 37,000 academic and professional faculty and retirees. UUP members work at 29 New York state-operated campuses, including SUNY’s public teaching hospitals and health science centers in Brooklyn, Long Island and Syracuse. It is an affiliate of NYSUT, the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association, and the AFL-CIO.
