Welcome to UUP's social media resources page, where you will find tips and hints to get your UUP chapter Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts up and running and keep them fresh and vibrant. UUP believes that social media can be very helpful in engaging members and getting the word out about chapter events and important information from UUP's statewide officers and leaders.
Social media can be an effective tool to help unions activate and motivate its members, but it is by no means a replacement for traditional, tried-and-true organizing methods.
Here you'll find a list of active UUP chapter Facebook and Twitter pages; UUP Communications has provided chapter leaders with passwords, and will resend them upon request. Also on this page are two easy-to-follow social media tutorials that will help you understand how social media works and how to post to your chapter pages.
Please note: UUP chapters are prohibited from generating social media posts with substantive content (i.e., analysis, critique, opinions, and perspectives) pertaining to the following without first obtaining permission from the UUP's statewide president:
- Profane language or content;
- Content that promotes, fosters or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status or with regard to national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual
- Sexual content or links to sexual content; and
- Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity.
UUP is easy to find on social media; we're @uupinfo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and You Tube.
Once your chapter social media pages are up and running, please take a second to like/follow UUP. Also, please follow us on your personal social media pages.
