More than 75 new leaders learned about their new union leadership roles at UUP’s 2009 Spring Chapter Presidents Leadership Workshop. The event, held March 20-21 in Saratoga Springs, again combined the twice-yearly meeting of chapter presidents and vice presidents with new leadership workshops.
UUPers took part in a number of workshops, including talking about issues related to chapter development in the Chapter Development workshop. Shown from left are Patricia Ghee, Jean Richardson and David Ballard.
The event, held March 20-21 in Saratoga Springs, again combined the twice-yearly meeting of chapter presidents and vice presidents with new leadership workshops in an effort to save dollars during these tough financial times.
The workshops covered a variety of topics, including grievance, communications, the Taylor Law, chapter development and problem solving.
Ramona SantaMaria, who attended the Communications 301 seminar, said she was excited about using what she learned about public speaking and other topics covered in the workshop in her job as assistant professor at Buffalo State.
“The information was pertinent and the presenters were able to make the information applicable to our chapters,” she said. “It was information that could be taken away and used right after the session.”
