UUP gets together with Long Island labor

UUPers pictured, from left, are Keri Webster, Pam Wolfskill, Charlie McAteer, Artie Shertzer and Ed O’Connell, posing with L.I. Federation of Labor Executive Director Roger Clayman, center.

UUP Stony Brook chapter members got together with fellow unionists at the annual Long Island Federation of Labor Barbeque on Aug. 30 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow.

The barbeque is a yearly event that celebrates the labor movement and attracts thousands of union members and their families. It also draws local political officials, including Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi and state Sen. Owen Johnson, who both took time to visit with the UUPers.

The Long Island federation serves as the voice of the Long Island workforce, fighting for workers’ rights, health benefits, workplace safety, job security and wage equality.
