Leaders learn their lessons

More than 50 new leaders, including Jeriluanne O'Bryan-Losee of Morrisville, participated in one of five training sessions Oct. 29-30 at the union’s Fall New Leadership Workshops in Lake George.

Topics ranged from UUP: The Organization and communicating with members, to collective bargaining, employment security and creating civility in the workplace. The goal: to arm the leaders with what they need to tackle the issues, and to educate and activate their union colleagues.

“We are a union,” UUP President Phil Smith said. “We have common goals, common aspirations and a common future. We hope these workshops give you the skills needed to help your fellow members.”
