UUPers meet with new Assembly member

Upstate Medical University Chapter President Carol Braund and fellow chapter member Dave Peckham, right, hold a get-acquainted meeting with newly elected Assemblyman Sam Roberts in Syracuse. The meeting presented UUP with the opportunity to inform Roberts about the need to keep SUNY strong.

The meeting with Roberts is part of a series of advocacy visits UUP activists are conducting with state lawmakers in their home districts. At least five other chapters have visited state legislators in their district offices since the November elections to deliver the message that SUNY cannot withstand additional budget cuts.

UUPers will be making their way to Albany to visit lawmakers in their Capital offices in the coming months.

Roberts fills the seat that had been occupied by Joan Christensen, who retired after serving 20 years in the Assembly.
