Advocates meet lawmakers in home districts

Upstate Medical University Chapter President Carol Braund speaks to Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli (D-Syracuse), second from right, about UUP’s concerns during an Oct. 4 meeting in his district office. Fellow Upstate Chapter advocates Dave Peckham and Bob Fluck, right, listen to the discussion.

The level of state support for SUNY, possible retrenchments, and the University’s shared services initiative were among the topics of conversation during the hour-long meeting. Magnarelli expressed his sentiment against retrenchments.

The meeting was one of a series held with state lawmakers in their home districts by members of UUP’s Outreach Committee. The sessions are designed to advance UUP’s legislative priorities prior to the regular legislative session that begins in early January.
