uupdate 2-1-16

UUP has a new statewide membership development officer.

Albany Chapter member Tom Hoey, above, second from left, a statewide Executive Board member, was elected as MDO after a Feb. 1 vote at the 2016 Winter Delegate Assembly in Albany. Hoey will serve until May 31, 2017, filling the unexpired term of former MDO Arty Shertzer, who resigned in November.

Hoey beat out Downstate Medical Center Chapter delegate Eric Russell for the post, 194 to 28.

Hoey takes over as MDO from Upstate Medical University Chapter President Mike Lyon, who served as interim MDO from November until the election.

After Hoey’s election win, delegates held a second vote to fill Hoey’s vacancy on the statewide Executive Board. Jeriluanne O’Bryan-Losee, right, the Morrisville Chapter’s vice president for professionals, was the only candidate for the board seat; she was elected by acclimation.

O’Bryan-Losee will fill the remainder of Hoey’s two-year Executive Board term; Hoey was re-elected to the board in April 2015.
