UUP Campus Equity Week toolkit available!

This year, Campus Equity Week is Oct. 23-27. There is also a National Day of Action, set for Oct. 31.

The main point of CEW is to remind students, administrators and permanent or tenure-track sisters and brothers about the contributions of contingent employees, and the precarious situation of contingents in higher education—including low pay, the lack of job security, and working conditions.

That's why campuses across the country stage CEW events. This year's theme is mAsk4CampusEquity, which focuses on using the power of the arts to provoke awareness and inspire change. Using masks allows contingents to disguise and "declare the complex identities of precarious academic workers," according to the official CEW website, at

UUP encourages its chapters to take part in CEW; public events spotlighting contingents brings necessary attention to the need of campus equity, as well as the situations these faculty members face. The CEW website provides ideas, tools and resources to host your own CEW event on campus.
