2016-2022 agreement between New York State and United University Professions


UUP members overwhemingly ratified a new six-year contract with the state on Sept. 5, 2018. Nearly 98 percent of members who voted cast ballots for the contract, which provides 2 percent raises each year of the pact, retroactive to July 2016.

This negotiated benefit offers four programs - the Health Care Spending Account (HCSAccount), the Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAAccount), the Adoption Advantage Account and NYS-Ride - that allow you to pay for your health care, dependent care, adoption expenses and transportation costs with pre-tax dollars.

UUP Benefit Trust Fund Scholarship Program

The UUP Benefit Trust Fund Scholarship Program will be available for the Fall 2018 semester through the Spring 2022 semester for undergraduate students.

The Scholarship Program is available for dependents of NYSHIP-eligible and non-NYSHIP-eligible UUP-represented employees. For Fall 2018, the scholarship award is $500 per semester to be used for fees, books, supplies or room and board (this award cannot be used for tuition).

A maximum of one scholarship per dependent child will be awarded each semester even if both parents are UUP represented employees and a total maximum of eight scholarships can be awarded per dependent child. The scholarship checks will be issued in the UUP represented employee’s name. The scholarship application must be postmarked by 60 days after the end of the semester for which the dependent is applying.

Oct. 11, 2018: 2016-2022 State/UUP Agreement: Compensation

This fact sheet provides detailed information on payment dates for salary increases, retroactive cash payments, lump-sum payments and Discretionary Salary Awards, through Dec. 26, 2018. It also includes details on future compensation from 2019 through 2022.

This negotiated benefit is available for the 2019 spring semester. The Drescher program enhances employment opportunities for people preparing for permanent or continuing appointment.

Sept. 17, 2018: UUP Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAAcount): New Employer Contribution

UUP's new contract includes an employer contribution to DCAAcounts for UUP-represented employees enrolled as DCAAcount participants for the 2018 plan year.

Sept. 17. 2018: UUP Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP)

UUP's new contract significantly expands participation options and credit amounts for each coming year. PEP allows eligible UUP-represented employees to exchange previously accrued vacation for a cash credit to be applied toward the employee share of NYSHIP premiums on a biweekly basis. Full-time and part-time employees who accrue vacation leave may participate in the program.
