Fight Back!

On Feb. 5, the grassroots 50501 Movement staged its first protest, a nationwide event held in more than 80 locations in all 50 states to protest the president and his administration’s assault on everything from science and research to democracy.

Since then, other groups, such as Indivisible and Hands Off 2025 have come together to organize and stage nationwide rallies in hamlets and small towns to the largest urban areas—all to protest the Republican-led administration’s authoritarian attacks on democracy.

The latest protest, a June 14 event called No Kings, drew more than 5 million people to rallies in more than 2,100 communities across the country. UUP was a sponsor of the event.

Next up: Good Trouble Lives On.

On Thursday, July 17, communities across the country will hold Good Trouble Lives On protests in response to civil and human rights attacks by the administration. The protest is named in honor of the late Congressman John Lewis, a civil rights activist in the 1960s who urged Americans to take action and “get into good trouble, necessary trouble,” to oppose racial injustice. Lewis died July 17, 2020.

Hundreds of rallies have been scheduled and more are expected to be announced as the rally date draws closer. Click HERE to see a map of Good Trouble Lives On protests. Below are Good Trouble events scheduled across New York state:
