T.H. CLINICAL TECHNICAL SERVICE – TRANSPLANT ORGAN PERFUSIONIST
T.H. CTS Chief Transplant Organ Perfusionist: (SL-3)
The Chief Organ Perfusionist is familiar with various methods of and mechanical systems used in organ perfusion and preservation. Responsible for decision making and judgement as to the method of preservation to be utilized at the time of retrieval, judgement as to the method of flushing the organs and keeping organs viable from time of retrieval to time of implantation, usually up to a 48 hour period. Required to record warm and cold Ischemia times pulsatile perfusion total time, flow rates, pharmacological agents administered etc. uses own judgement in the training of Junior Perfusionists and students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in biology, biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or relevant science field. Three (3) years experience as a perfusion Technician at a federally accredited transplantation center. Significant knowledge of Anatomy, Pathology, Physiology and the principles governing renal function is a prerequisite to proper performance.

T.H. CTS Transplant Organ Perfusionist: (SL-2)
The Organ Perfusionist possesses specific knowledge of organ preservation; the rate and induction of cooling, actual storage hypothermia temperature, oxygenation within the kidney, flow and pressure rates. The incumbents will have knowledge of the principals of renal function in order to quickly rectify any problems that would threaten the viability of the kidney; moderate knowledge of nephrectomy and transplantation operative procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or relevant science area. One (1) year experience as a Perfusion Technician at a federally accredited transplantation center or two (2) years experience in a setting where candidate received training in sterile techniques.
