AUTHORIZATION FOR VOLUNTARY DEDUCTION:
I hereby authorize regular payroll deductions from my earnings in the amount specified below as a voluntary contribution to be paid to VOTE-COPE, to be used in accordance with applicable law for the purpose of making political contributions in connection with federal, state, and local elections. UUP members are free to contribute more or less than the guidelines suggest, and UUP will not disadvantage anyone by reason of the amount of their contribution or decision not to contribute. Contributing to VOTE-COPE is voluntary, and UUP members may refuse to contribute to VOTE-COPE without reprisal. Contributing to VOTE-COPE is not a condition of membership in any labor organization. I may revoke this authorization at any time by giving written notice to the Secretary/Treasurer of United University Professions. I understand that only U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents may contribute to VOTE-COPE. Forty percent (40%) of my contribution is returned to the UUP Higher Education Action Fund.
VOTE-COPE is the New York State United Teachers’ political action fund. Contributions or gifts to VOTE-COPE are not deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes.
