HOUSING AND RESIDENTIAL LIFE

As a family, the housing and residential life series administers and manages all facets of on-campus student housing, including operation of the housing complex and coordination o academic, cultural, and social programs for resident students.

Director of Residential Life: (SL-5)

Directs a campus housing program that includes academic, social, cultural, and special interest programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s degree. Significant experience in a campus housing and residential life operation with some managerial and supervisory responsibilities is required.

Director of College Housing: (SL-4)

Directs a campus housing program. It can be distinguished from the Director of Residential Life by the absence of responsibility for integrating academic programs with campus housing.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s degree. Significant experience in a campus housing operation is required.

Assistant Director of College Housing: (SL-3)

When assigned to a residence hall complex (a grouping of two (2) or more residence halls), responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: professional responsibility for the operations of the complex; selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of Residence Hall Directors and Resident Assistants; initiates or coordinates academic, cultural, and social programs within the complex; may be responsible for supervising the student disciplinary program for the complex. When assigned to a campus-wide housing or residential life office, the responsibilities may include, but may not be limited to: assisting a Director of Housing or Director of Residential Life with the administration of the campus-wide program; may coordinate the efforts/activities of Assistant Director of Housing assigned to residence hall complexes, may design and coordinate staff development and training programs; may be responsible for coordinating one (1) or more campus-wide functions such as maintenance, accounting/budgeting, cultural/academic programs, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree. Some experience in campus housing or residential life experience is required.

Residence Hall Director: (SL-2)

The entry level position in the series. Incumbents supervise student Resident Assistants are typically responsible for the general condition of a single residence hall. Appointees may receive permanent appointment to this title.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree. Residence hall experience while an undergraduate student is desirable.

Residence Hall Intern: (SL-1)

The entry level position in the series.
