T.H. CLINICAL TECHNICAL SERVICES – CARDIOLOGY

The incumbents perform and assist in the performance of invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures under limited technical and administrative supervision.

T.H. CTS Cardiology Specialist: (SL-3)

Has general and area specific expertise i.e., intro-aortic balloon counterpulsation unit, and requires minimal or no supervision. Performs administrative and teaching duties and is involved in developing and carrying out research protocols. Provides direct supervison to subordinate staff and students; provides administrative supervision to subordinate level staff on matters that affect other operations and programs. May be responsible for the maintenance of electronic monitoring equipment, use of monitoring equipment and blood gas analysis, operation and servicing of recording devices, treadmill stress tests; m-mode, two dimensional and Dopple ultra-sound studies analyzing echocardiogram. Assists in the procurement of equipment; assists with patient preparation; maintains sufficient stock of lab supplies, schedules and participates in on-call/recall schedule with beeper coverage. Responsible for the establishment of protocols for new procedures performed in the lab and for an effective work flow pattern.

Preferred Qualifications:

B.S. in Technical Specialty, Certification in Specialty: ARDM, C.P.T., others. Five (5) or more years experience.

T.H. CTS Cardiology Associate: (SL-2)

Under the general guidance of the clinical Technical Specialist, assists in the performance of cardiac invasive and non-invasive procedures and related activities (see above duties). Participates in on-call/recall and rotating beeper schedule. Assists in calibration of lab equipment and in the set up of trays when necessary; assists with patient preparation and positioning on the x-ray table; assists in the maintenance of supplies and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

B.S. in Technical Specialty, Certification in Specialty: ARDM, CPT, other. Four (4) or more years experience required.

T.H. CTS Cardiology Assistant: (SL-1)

Under the direct guidance of the Clinical Technical Specialist, the incumbent in this position is responsible for maintaining all cardiac invasive and non-invasive equipment and supplies. Responsible for reordering and calculating all data during cardiac procedures. Assists in the preparation of patients for all adult and pediatric cardiac catheterization. Sets up instruments, prepares solutions and assembles/disassembles all equipment. Assists in all clinical emergencies. Assists with the performance of oxygen consumption measurements. Supervises the clinical rotation of students to the department and works with services and sales who visit the department. Monitors and records patients ECG and pressure throughout the procedure.

Preferred Qualifications:

High school with Technical Specialty training or B.S. due to three (3) years experience required.
