T.H. CLINICAL TECHNICAL SERVICES – STERILE SUPPLY

The positions in this group are major suppliers of sterilized medical/surgical supplies in support of hospital patient care. They are required to have a thorough knowledge of the various needs of various areas in the hospital including O.R., clinical areas, patient units and laboratories.

T.H. CTS Sterile Supply Senior Specialist: (SL-4)

Assures compliance with state and regulatory agencies; develops and implements systems procedures and policies; responsible for budgeting and final decision relative to staff hiring; develops and administers departmental operating plans, policies, programs, and procedures; stimulates, recommends and performs evaluations, research projects and training programs beneficial to the procurement, safe handling, distribution and utilization of sterile supplies; provides leadership and direction to all departmental operations through the selection, training and management of assigned personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

A.A.S. O.R. Technology or equivalent experience, certified O.R. Technician or American Hospital Association Certification with at least five (5) years experience in a supervisory/administrative capacity.

T.H. CTS Sterile Supply Specialist: (SL-3)

Under the direction of the Director, coordinates and administers the day-to-day activities of the Central Sterile Supply Department or sections in terms of qualitative and quantitative performance, staffing, scheduling, program planning, budget control, coordination of services, etc. Serves as consultant to other departments in the proper packaging and usage of supplies/equipment and the sterilization process. Responsible for maintaining updated knowledge of supplies and equipment through regular communication with professional affiliates and through current literature. Oversees evaluation of new products in the hospital; directs the orientation and ongoing inservice programs for Central Sterile employees; participates in this program for other departments. Maintains the departments quality control program; assists in development, implementation and employee compliance of policies and procedures; handles patient, medical and administrative staff complaints. The position functions under general supervision and supervises subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications:

A.A.S. O.R. Technology or equivalent experience, Certified O.R. Technician, or American Hospital Association Certification, with at least four (4) years related experience to include one (1) year in supervisory/administrative capacity.

T.H. CTS Sterile Supply Associate: (SL-2)

Assists in the daily operation of the department; develops, implements and monitors policies and procedures; assists in the development of operations reports and the conduct of external and internal surveys; assists in providing information and instruction to medical students and staff regarding the departments services, the sterilization and the instrumentation packaging process. Administers the departments quality control and inventory control programs; coordinates and administers the departments inservice training program; responsible for staffing and receives general instruction and guidance from the Specialist; supervises subordinates Classified Service staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

A.A.S. O.R. Technology or equivalent experience, O.R. Certification, or American Hospital Association Certification, and one (1) to three (3) years related experience to include at least one (1) year in a supervisory/administrative capacity.
