T.H. MEDICAL INSTRUMENTATION

These positions prepare and repair equipment for patient treatments and use; monitor calibrations of machines and related equipment; performs ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs of equipment; control inventory of supplies and possess the ability to learn and utilize new maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques. They also prepare, maintain, monitor and calibrate equipment used in specialty areas (i.e., Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Respiratory, Dialysis, etc.

T.H. Medical Instrumentation Senior Specialist: (SL-4)

Plans and directs all technical aspects of the unit. Implements a medical equipment management program; prepares work schedules and on-call assignments; prepares, monitors and controls the department’s supply, expense and capital budgets. Participates in the instruction of house staff and residence relative to the operation and utilization of equipment; ensures compliance with the health department’s requirements and manufacturer’s recommendation for environmental standards, and participates in research programs within the department. Responsible for maintenance and emergency repairs and servicing; may participate in design, evaluation, and modification of experimental or innovative equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with five (5) or more years experience to include one (1) year supervisory/administrative capacity.

T.H. Medical Instrumentation Specialist: (SL-3)

Supervises the Associate Medical Instrumentation Specialist on assignments. Performs sophisticated mechanical and electronic troubleshooting of equipment; maintains technical laboratory records and educates nursing and medical associates.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree or certificate, and minimum two (2) to four (4) years experience.

T.H. Instrumentation Associate: (SL-2)

Responsible for scheduled dialysis treatment; monitors calibration of machines and related equipment; performs ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs of equipment; control of inventory supplies. Learns and utilizes new maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree or certificate, and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience.
