T.H. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapists work closely with other members of the health care team to devise and carry out specialized treatment programs aimed at enabling patients to return to their normal activities.

T.H. Associate Director of Occupational Therapy: (SL-5)

Responsible for the overall direction of the Hospital Occupational Therapy Program; develops program plans and fosters departmental growth; responsible for all aspects of patient care and management in compliance with departmental policies and procedures and the quality assurance program. Responsible for the department’s educational program and the orientation and training of all medical staff and students as needed in regard to Occupational Therapy. Represents the department internally and externally and interacts with medical staff regarding patient needs; develops department policies and procedures and oversees, record keeping and inventory control programs. Prepares budgets; plans, organizes, supervises and directs all of the staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Occupational Therapy and NYS license. Five (5) years experience to include one (1) year in a supervisory/administrative capacity.

T.H. Occupational Therapist I: (SL-4)

May represent the department internally and externally, interacts with medical staff regarding patient needs; assists in the update and development of department policies and procedures, record-keeping and inventory control programs. Supervision is minimal. Position supervises subordinate staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Occupational Therapy and NYS license. Four (4) years experience to include one (1) year in a supervisory/administrative capacity.

T.H. Occupational Therapist II: (SL-3)

Schedules and evaluates all patients according to diagnosis, disability and prescription; administers all aspects of patient care in compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Recommends other services when indicated and fabricates or provides appropriate devices; monitors the department quality control program; coordinates the department in-service training program; coordinates and participates in instructional activity for students, nurses and house staff. Maintains contacts with physicians and other medical team members regarding patient treatment programs; manages inventory control and records maintenance, and assists in the development and interpretation of policies and procedures. Functions under general supervision; may supervise subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Occupational Therapy and NYS license. Two (2) to four (4) years experience.

T.H. Occupational Therapist III: (SL-2)

Administers all aspects of patient care in compliance with departmental policies and procedures; recommends other services as indicated and fabricates or provides appropriate devices; participates in the department’s quality control and inservice training programs. Functions under the general supervision of the Senior Specialist.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Occupational Therapy and zero (0) to two (2) years experience; NYS license or license eligible but must pass within one (1) year.
