T.H. RECREATIONAL THERAPY

Recreational Therapists are responsible for the design, development and implementation of a system to provide psycho-social and physical activities to meet the patient’s need in order to facilitate discharge.

T.H. Recreational Therapy Specialist: (SL-3)

Under the general supervision of the T.H. Director of Rehabilitation Therapy, assesses and evaluates patient needs and interests through interviews, observations, consultation with Medical Staff or other means relative to recreational and/or social adjustment; analyzes information and develops and implements an individualized plan to maximize personal, physical and social functioning; explores increased objectives for strengthening personal functioning by optimum use of rehabilitation services; interfaces with Utilization Review, Social Services, Discharge Planning and other hospital staff to determine when a patient is ready for placement in another facility or their home; supervises subordinate staff, instructs medical staff, residents and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or a related Therapy and a minimum three (3) years of related experience.

T.H. Recreational Therapy Associate: (SL-2)

Under direct supervision provides recreational therapy according to a specified treatment plan; continually evaluates effectiveness of plan in attaining goals and recommends or implements changes as appropriate; provides instruction to medical staff, residents and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or a related therapy.
