T.H. CLINICAL TECHNICAL SERVICES – EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

Emergency Medical Service (EMS): Provides transport supervision and coordination of paramedics in the emergency medical service setting.

T.H. Emergency Medical Services Specialist: (SL-3)

Responsible for the entire coordination of patient transports between University Hospital and other geographically detached medical facilities (hospitals, clinical facilities, etc.). Transports are made by UH ambulance or helicopter. Coordinates proper resources, both personnel and equipment; responsible for hiring, evaluations, training, quality assurance, and continuing education for all employees in the department as well as outside education to community hospitals and ambulance/fire departments; directly responsible and accountable for the budget and generating appropriate statistical reports needed to ensure the proper functioning of the department; interfaces between the hospital and outside pre-hospital care agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree, NYS Certified AEMT-IV/Paramedic, and four (4) or more years of experience as a Paramedic, two (2) years being in a supervisory/administrative capacity. ACLS Provider/Instructor, BLS Provider/Instructor preferred.

T.H. C.T.S. Emergency Medical Service Associate: (SL-2)

First line supervisor to Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians who are responsible for providing transportation to/from University Hospital to any other geographically detached medical facility (hospital, clinical facility, etc.). Supervisory responsibilities include personnel evaluations, counseling and scheduling; responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures are being followed; ensures that all equipment and needed supplies are available, that preventive maintenance is performed as needed and that repairs are expedited; reports directly to the T.H. C.T.S. Emergency Medical Services Specialist.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates Degree, NYS Certified EMT/AEMT Iv/Paramedic, and two (2) or more years of experience as a paramedic, one (1) year experience being in a supervisory/administrative capacity. ACLS Provider/Instructor, BLS Provider/Instructor preferred.
