Speak up for SUNY Downstate in Albany!
uupdate 03-21-24

UUP members from Brooklyn, Albany and across the state will be in Albany on Wednesday, March 27 to urge legislators to tell Gov. Kathy Hochul to save the vital public teaching hospital from being closed.

With less than two weeks left before the April 1 deadline to approve the 2024-2025 state budget, UUP is set to intensify its advocacy efforts by bringing buses with Downstate Chapter members up from Brooklyn to Albany.

In Albany, UUP members will thank legislators for their support for Downstate and ask them to keep up the pressure on Gov. Hochul to abandon her backing of SUNY’s plan to shutter the 164-year-old public teaching hospital.

“We need to be heard and we need to be heard in the Capitol,” said UUP President Fred Kowal. “ To do that, we need you. Please consider getting on the bus March 27 and come up to Albany to advocate for this vital, life-saving facility. Brooklyn needs Downstate!”
