Salary increases, bonus, longevity awards coming soon
uupdate 07-17-25

Call it the contract that keeps on giving.

Now in its third year, UUP’s 2022-2026 contract with the state includes salary increases, the second half of a $3,000 bonus for eligible employees and other benefits. And members will start seeing these changes in their paychecks soon.

“These hard-fought, significant compensation gains are testament to our strength as a union,” said UUP President Fred Kowal. “None of these gains would have been possible without the strength of our membership.”

UUP, which is gearing up to negotiate a new contract with the state, reached a deal on the 2022-2026 contract in June 2023. The pact was ratified by UUP members in August 2023; it applies to SUNY employees in UUP’s bargaining unit.

Here’s what UUP-represented SUNY employees will get:

Salary increases

Three percent across-the-board salary increases for most 12-month employees took effect July 3. The raises will hit employees’ July 30 paychecks. Raises for eligible employees who work on 10-month and 11-month schedules will take effect Aug. 28. Those employees will see their raises in paychecks on Sept. 24.

Lump-sum bonus

Eligible employees will get the second half of a $3,000 lump-sum bonus (not to base, pro-rated for part-time employees) in their July 30 paychecks. Employees on payroll or on authorized leave on Sept. 1, 2023 (or the start of the 2023 Fall semester) through April 30, 2024 qualify for the bonus.

Employees who received the first $1,500 bonus payment—disbursed in July 2024—will receive the second installment even if they’ve left SUNY.

Retention awards

Both parts of a retention award longevity increase negotiated by UUP are now in place.

Last year, full-time employees who attain tenure, permanent appointment or worked for 7 years in a UUP-represented job title on the same campus received a $1,000 on-base award. This will continue through the end of the contract.

Now, eligible employees who have worked at the same campus for 12 years will get an $800 Retention Award longevity increase to base salary; the first awards were paid out July 16. After July 16, eligible employees will receive retention awards once they hit their longevity milestones.

Part-time faculty and bargaining unit members in UUP’s lowest-paid ranks and grades are also set to see increases starting with the Fall 2025 semester. You can learn more about these and other increases by clicking HERE.
