Meet Your Chapter Officers:

As per the UUP constitution, each chapter should have a chapter DEI Officer. The chapter DEI officer is either elected or appointed depending upon the chapter bylaws. The duties of these officers are as follows but not limited to be the chair of the chapter DEI committee, recruit members to participate in the meetings and activities of chapter DEI committee. This may include educational workshops on topics of interest and/or issues surrounding DEI and social justice, events celebrating Diversity Equity and Inclusion, or other programming activities. The DEI Officer is a conduit and /or point person at their chapter on DEI issues, they may provide resources while working in consultation with the Chapter President and Labor Relations Specialist assigned to the chapter. Be a member of one of our Human and Civil Rights Statewide committee.

Capacity Building Team Participants:

The Capacity Building Team (CBT) is a select group of members who participated in the Tangible Development Program in 2023. This program was an intensive 14-week training that dealt with many of the everyday challenges we all face as we work to create an inclusive environment. Some of the topics discussed were implicit bias, microaggressions, difficult conversations (calling in and calling out) and intersectionality, to name a few. Our CBT members are willing to answer inquiries, offer ideas and be a diversity, equity and inclusion resource for you and your chapter. So please take advantage of their expertise, especially in these very trying times where so much of what we hold dear is under attack.
