T.H. CLINICAL TECHNICAL SERVICE – PULMONARY FUNCTION
The positions are responsible for proficient pulmonary diagnostic testing. This required an ability to understand complex instrumentation as related to patient needs, and to give instructions to patients and colleagues on the techniques of the testing, and finally to collate complex numbers at the end of test to weave them into a coherent pulmonary function examination.
T.H. CTS Pulmonary Function Specialist: (SL-3)
The technical specialist must possess the knowledge and experience to supervise at a general and technical level technicians in the performance of their duties. Performs administrative duties; i.e., prepares budget preparation and monitor appropriate expenditures. Evaluates, orders and receives all diagnostic testing equipment and supplies. Designs and implements Quality Assurance programs, and does appropriate performance evaluation and inservice education of all employees in the laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. Degree. Six (6) or more years experience to include a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory/administrative capacity.

T.H. CTS Pulmonary Function Associate: (SL-2)
The Technical Associates perform proficiently in all areas of pulmonary diagnostic testing which takes anywhere from thirty minutes up to a total of two hours. Performs appropriate tests with minimal direction from the referring physician. Performs a pulmonary history and physical; performs a routing screening spirometry, analyzes the results and decides what other diagnostic tests are necessary (i.e., lung volumes, diffusion studies, arterial or venous blood analysis, airway resistance measurements, etc.), and communicates these results with the referring physician. Functions with considerable autonom7 and a high level of knowledge of theoretical and practical pulmonary physiology and mechanical testing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree and three (3) or more years experience with a minimum of two (2) years in a teaching hospital environment.
