T.H. REHABILITATION THERAPY

Rehabilitation Therapy is a general term used for any treatment to restore a patient’s abilities to the highest normal functioning level possible.

T.H. Director Rehabilitation Therapy: (SL-5)

Directs the total operation of the Rehabilitation Department in the delivery of services to University Hospital patients and their families. Develops, plans and implements departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with departmental’s goals; identifies staffing needs; ensures continued professional growth of the department by keeping current with trends in the field; provides leadership by initiating new programs and avenues of service to patients; has accountability for statistical reporting, quality assurance; utilization review, staff supervision, administration of departmental budget. Functions as chief liaison between the Institution/Department and the community, which may include serving on committees, participating in meetings, conferences, etc. Instructs students and medical staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Rehabilitation counseling. Minimum of five (5) years experience in an acute-care facility, to include two (2) years in a supervisory/administrative capacity (Appendix A).

T.H. Associate Director of Rehabilitation Therapy: (SL-4)

Assists the Director of Rehabilitation Therapy in the establishment of departmental policies and procedures; develops implements, and maintains quality assurance and utilization review procedures and statistics; reviews counseling for testing results and appropriateness of treatment goals; responsible for administration and supervision of staff; communicates with outside agencies, insurance companies, industrial physicians, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation; keeps abreast of current specific job duties as they exist in industry (performs in-depth job analyses); oversees educational and inservice education programs, instructs medical staff and students. Functions independently under consultative direction of the T.H. Director of Rehabilitation Therapy; supervises subordinate staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Minimum of four (4) years related experience in an acute-care facility.

T.H. Rehabilitation Counselor II: (SL-2)

Determines the amount and type of testing and/or provides counsel. Discusses with patient or client test results or outcome, formulates vocational goals, recommends training or direct placement in an occupational field. Responsible for implementation of educational and departmental inservice programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling. Minimum of two (2) years experience in an acute care facility.

T.H. Rehabilitation Counselor I: (SL-1)

Administers and scores standardized aptitude and work sample tests to disabled clients or patients; maintains records and prepares written reports of client performance; participates in staffing of clients and other regular staff meetings (rounds); participates in educational program on master’s level; provides instruction to medical staff, students, residents and fellows. Participates in departmental inservice program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in vocational Education, Counseling or related field required.
