UUP has signed on as an official mobilization partner for the nationwide No Kings Day of Defiance on June 14—the same day as President Donald Trump’s very big, very expensive birthday/military parade in Washington, D.C.
Hundreds of No Kings rallies and protests are already scheduled in all 50 states to protest the new administration’s attacks on higher education, science, America’s working families and democracy.

The rallies are organized by No Kings, a grassroots organization led by Indivisible and a coalition of pro-democracy partners across the country. The coalition is mobilizing volunteers in a nationwide show of defiance against what it calls the “increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration."
“UUP is proud to sign on as a No Kings partner and we’ll be urging our members to attend No Kings rallies and events in their communities,” said UUP President Fred Kowal. “Free speech, due process, our constitutional protections and our democracy are under attack and the only way to keep them is to fight back forcefully and peacefully. Attending a No Kings rally will send the same strong message that Abraham Lincoln sent in his Gettysburg address—that government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.”
A May 6 Indivisible press release said: “Donald Trump wants tanks in the streets and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington — it rises up everywhere else. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism and show the world what democracy actually looks like: people, united, refusing to be ruled.”
By becoming a No Kings partner, UUP joins more than 30 organizations that have partnered with No Kings, including AFT, 50501, Indivisible, Communications Workers of America (CWA), American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the National Treasury Employees Union and the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY, among others.
