The nationwide No Kings Day of Defiance is set on Saturday, June 14 and UUP is urging members to take part in any of the nearly 75 protests, rallies and events scheduled across the state.
No Kings events will be held in Albany, Buffalo, New York City, Binghamton, Plattsburgh, Syracuse, on Long Island and in communities all over New York. Chances are that a No Kings rally is being held in or close to your community. 6
“If you’re thinking about taking part in a No Kings rally, take that next step and do it,” said UUP President Fred Kowal. “Free speech, due process, academic freedom, higher education, our constitutional protections, our democracy…everything we hold dear is under attack and the only way to keep it is to fight back forcefully and peacefully.”

Earlier this month, UUP signed on as an official mobilization partner for No Kings, which will be held on the same day as President Donald Trump’s very big, very expensive birthday/military parade in Washington, D.C.
Thousands of No Kings events are scheduled in all 50 states to protest the new administration’s attacks on higher education, science, America’s working families and democracy. The rallies, which will be peaceful demonstrations, are organized by No Kings, a grassroots organization led by Indivisible and a coalition of pro-democracy partners across the country.
The coalition is mobilizing volunteers in a nationwide show of defiance against what it calls the “increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration.”
“Attending a No Kings rally will send the same strong message that Abraham Lincoln sent in his Gettysburg address—that government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth,” Kowal said.
The parade is part of the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary celebration, but the president has co-opted the event because it falls on his 79th birthday. It is expected that the parade will cost $45 million, although Democrats say the total cost could be much higher.
